{"id":330,"date":"2017-07-27T01:46:16","date_gmt":"2017-07-27T01:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/masonslivinglanguages.com\/?page_id=330"},"modified":"2019-06-25T22:40:21","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T22:40:21","slug":"russian","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/masonslivinglanguages.com\/?page_id=330","title":{"rendered":"Russian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(includes <a href=\"https:\/\/masonslivinglanguages.com\/?page_id=413\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affiliate links<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Though Russian was not taught in Charlotte Mason&#8217;s schools, I have listed below resources that could be used in teaching according to Charlotte Mason&#8217;s philosophy.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Vocabulary<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In the early years, vocabulary is developed through pictures and objects around the student\u2019s environment. \u00a0Below are resources you could use for vocabulary. \u00a0The key here is to remember that the students are not to see the words. \u00a0In some cases, you may need to find a way to cover the words.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2D8kn9c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teach Me Russian and More Russian<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2wa7KoG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In the Town All Year &#8216;Round<\/a>-this book is nearly perfect for vocabulary development and picture narration, without any words cluttering the pages<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2tKQQ2l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Everyday Words in Russian<\/a>-these have pictures with the words underneath where a hand could easily cover<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2eP9FKJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russian Picture Word Book<\/a>-this book has simple pictures, much like ones seen in Mason&#8217;s recommended lesson books, but the words are printed also. \u00a0You might be able to use this, covering the words.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2vKelG3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Usborne&#8217;s First Thousand Words in Russian<\/a>-this book is similar to the one referenced above but with color pictures. \u00a0The same care and attention will be needed to cover words.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Songs<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamalisa.com\/?lang=Russian&amp;t=el\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mama Lisa\u2019s World: International Music and Culture<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=K_uviMr9kl8&amp;index=1&amp;list=PLGuA48fJAZ0LfK9JEoMKjrkzg4QNNkJht\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube Channel<\/a> with a collection of &#8220;Classic&#8221; Gouin\u2019s Series<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Still searching for a resource here! \u00a0If one knows enough of the language, one could make up their own simple series, following a stream of thoughts and actions.. such as, &#8220;I wake up in the morning. \u00a0I make my bed. \u00a0I get dressed. \u00a0I brush my teeth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Formal Lesson Books<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Formal Lessons books are teacher resources for vocabulary, poetry, conversation, grammar and short stories. \u00a0Mason used similar books for lessons in her programmes. \u00a0Teachers were required to read the preface to educate themselves and did not use them exhaustively. \u00a0These are not for the student to see until they are far along in their practice of the language.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=sjwzAQAAMAAJ&amp;pg=PA6&amp;lpg=PA6&amp;dq=new+practical+and+easy+method+of+learning+russian&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=PgaKtQF3gb&amp;sig=FVua8MoOJX5BMyDowpkuM8MK5Ok&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjt-Z2n76vVAhWK5SYKHW0ICMkQ6AEINzAD#v=onepage&amp;q=new%20practical%20and%20easy%20method%20of%20learning%20russian&amp;f=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A New Practical and Easy Method of Learning the Russian Language<\/a> by F.
